We at Asylum have seen the Burj Dubai at its full height. It's horrendously tall. Looking up at it makes us want to curl up into the fetal position and beg for mercy.

Today, an unfortunate -- sorry, we mean lucky bunch headed into the UAE's 2,683-foot mega building for the first time to experience its frankly absurd height from the heavens.

As well as being the tallest building on the planet (it's the height of the Empire State Building with an Empire State Building stuck on the top) the Burj breaks at least 15 other world records. These include the tallest building with residential space, more floors than any other building, the world's highest swimming pool (76th floor) and the fastest elevator ever made, which ascends as 32.8 feet a second.

Add to that the highest observation deck (124th floor) and the most elevated place of worship -- a mosque (158th).

On the 108th floor are 900 residential apartments designed by Giorgio Armani, which have all been snapped up from $1-$17 million. Above these are 37 floors of office space, plus a restaurant, a gym on the 123rd floor and a nightclub on the 144th.

Keep reading for our favorite pics of the Burj alongside some seriously impressive YouTube clips.
