While watching football this past weekend like the men we are, we noticed what looks to be a disturbing new trend in pharmaceutical advertising.Instead of having a voice-over guy simply read the disclaimer with all the side effects over the usual montage of oddly neutered scenes of post-coital frolic, a new TV spot for Cialis has a random dude directly addressing the camera.
It's weird and confusing. Is this guy a doctor? A patient himself? And why is he talking to us when we clearly don't need this stuff?
Plus, it's not like he's our type. But we get the method behind Cialis's madness: By trotting out this schmoe, their intent is to actually give viewers E.D. -- thereby making more people interested in a product like theirs. Very clever! Cialis must have realized how awkward their ad was and quickly snatched it up from YouTube. If our one screen shot of this grade A creeper doesn't satisfy your interest in this story, feel free to search the video yourself. Seek and ye shall find...an awkward wiener-guy.

The one I can't handle is the one where the guy is walking to the doctor, and sees himself in the shop window, at which point his reflection guilts him into getting a prescription by offering a, "Come on, hasn't it been long enough since you had a boner"-type look of disapproval and pity. That's a little too much internal psychodrama while I'm watching a football game.
The one linked here, meanwhile, is just weird. Why is that couple washing a dog together? Are they about to do it? Why would they be soaping up a dog before they do it?

I do not find the ad insulting in any way. At some point we have to look problems, concerns or physical conditions full in the face.
Studies have shown that 52% of men over 40 have some erectile concerns. Part of it is natural aging. Part is taking less than optimal care of ourselves. What about the natural lowering of testosterone production or our bodies not being as sensitive to testosterone?
Our sexuality is a very important part of our being and overall health and psychological well being. If we have problems, who is the ultimate judge? We are.
Most men wish to be sexually vibrant for their entire life. If it takes a clinically effective pharmalogical product, so be it.
We take pills for, high blood pressure, cancer, diabetes, flu and so many other things. Why can't we not be consistent with our choices?
I personally will take whatever pill, clinically tested, that will make my life more complete. My wife will be happier. my children happier because i am happier. My income will be assisted in a positive fashion. The children will get a better education because our income will remain at a higher level.
Everything is so inter-connected. My children's education, the happiness of our relationship is so much more important than a few straight-to-the point comments about a concern so long ignored.
Bring on the facts. bringon the truth. Bring on the problem solvers.

That guy is an actor. I just saw him in a movie a week ago and said to my wife "Hey, that's that creepy guy from the Cialis commercial". Darn it though...I can't remember what movie it was......
