Lord knows when you're serving time you want to look your best for that hour you get out in the yard. But what's the best way to make yourself stand out? Previously prisons have offered up body piercings and some rudimentary tattoos, but today's hardened felon needs something a little more exotic, like an eyeball tattoo.
Two inmates wanting to stand out from the crowd decided to tattoo the whites of their eyes red and blue respectively. When asked why, David Boltjes says, "Why not?"
Neither inmate would explain how they managed to go sci-fi with their eyes, except to say that it was pretty painful, which seems to go without saying. Click through to check out video.

This will prove to have serious consequences. This ink, dye or whatever it is will eventually cause blindness. When a foreign substance gets into the aqueous fluid it will bind with the cells and disrupt how the rods and cones work. Blindness.

wiki'd a human eye diagram...The ink should only go into the sclera on the sides of the cornea and not into the aqueous humour- or do i fail? 'guess we'll see if anyone eventually goes blind from this.
i can barely find anything about sclera tatting online, wtf???

Wow, I feel good that we can comment on Tats in prison, but not what's going on in the world with Obama. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

It's unfortunate that if/when infection, blindness or other ill effects set in, that the prison system, funded by tax payor dollars, will be obliged to provide treatment, support, and accomodation to the prisoners for the duration of their sentence. Upon release, I'm sure there will be a way for them to file for disability. Poor, poor, prisoners.

Great! We will save on background checks before hiring a thief or a murderer. They'll just label themselves for discrimination and will therefore, sue.

You would have to tattoo only one eye one color for the first crime. That way, if he commits a second crime in a different category of crimes, you still have the second eye to color the correct color for the second crime. Don't know what you do if he committs a crime in a third category of crimes. You might want to always save one eye to mark it for sexual predator or murderer.

I think the prisons need better programs. Guys tattooing their eyes is a good sign they have too much time on their hands. The more productive and active a prisoner is, the less harmful they are likely to be when they get out and move next door to you.
People like to complain about tax dollars going towards schooling and other positive programs in prison, but the bottom line is these people need a purpose. Now look at them, if either got out who would hire them looking like that? They'll just continue a life of crime.

I think its kinda cool. And besides, people are just going to keep finding weird and wonderful ways to modify/mutilate their bodies. Why not eye tatts, or horns, or gold rimmed nostrils.

Well, it's quite evident now that some inmate brains definitely shrink toward cognitive malfunction (A.K.A... stupidity)
