We know that parking is a total pain. But there's not much anyone can do about it. Unless you're a resident of the Woodhaven in Queens -- they've decided out-of-state cars are to blame, and they've got a plan to fix the situation. At a recent neighborhood meeting, residents got to share what bothers them most about their neighborhood, and parking was up there as a top complaint. The people who live in Woodhaven especially dislike when cars with out-of-state license plates park in their 'hood. One resident went so far as to tell the Daily News, "We feel that if they park in New York streets, they should have New York license plates."
Be sure to tell your visiting relatives to plan accordingly, because Woodhaven residents have formed their own parking authority, and will be contacting the DMV of whatever non–New York state a car is from if it's parked in their 'hood for more than a month, to make sure it isn't illegally registered. You just don't get that kind of spare time when you live in Manhattan.

Living in Pennsylvania I am tired of all the New York tags parked here. The excuse is that they cannot register for PA tags and keep their NY jobs. What a crock, they knew that when they moved out here.

It's illegal for someone to take up permanent residence in PA & still have their vehicle registered in NY unless they do in fact have a residence in NY that they recieve mail at. Most states require registrations be switched over within 30 days but some states allow a bit longer & some a bit less.

Ironically its much cheaper to have PA insurance and registration, so those ppl with ny plates are just complete idiots! But it's true I live in Queens not the same neighborhood in this story, but the number of out of state plates is a bit insane. Most common states I see are PA NC FL MA and NJ

Well, ya know what - I live in NC and I am sick and tired of seeing all of the NY plates that are here....especially the ones that don't know how to drive, because they only get under the wheel once a year - the rest of the time they ride the subways.....underground, exactly where the moles SHOULD BE! Do us a favor - STAY IN NEW YORK, we don't want or need your attitude!!!!

New York is an awful big state and I am sure alot of it's residents do not live in NYC -- so might want to amend your statement about only driving once a year....

The "vigilante mob" should spend a few days and nights in the tank. They look like "teabaggers" between tea partys. Morons.

Spend a few nights in the tank for what? They aren't doing anything illegal.

This is ridiculous! If we did that here in FL, there would be no tourists. What a joke! Get over yourselves.
No on second thought, let's ALL ban out of state cars! YES! More room for me at DisneyWorld!

The new amsterdam residents just hate everybody because they have naver been able to see REAL people. Most of us in the US see them as a joke. They do not get it. To self absorbed. They think hate is a pretty color. Ill stay in my little community with folks I can trust, that are not two faced when I leave. My people are real. Say what they think to my face. HEY! Here is an idea;Talk to the person you have a problem with.Face to face.Resolve the problem and move on. Mob mentality."You hate them? "WELLL..ahahaha...I hate them too!...YEAH...Yea for us!"Patriots1? Love my country, but hate the people who live here. THAT IS new york ALL OVER. Up yours and have a tolerable day((!)

WHO THE HELL DO THOSE LOW LIFES IN NY THINK THEY ARE? IT'S OK WHEN THEY GO OUT OF STATE AND PARK BUT DON'T DO IT IN NY. SAME OLD ARROGANT, OBNOXIOUS, LOW LIFE IDIOTIC "HOOD" MENTALITY. EVERYONE SHOULD QUIT GOING TO NY AND WATCH THEIR PROPERTY TAXES GO THRU THE ROOF BECAUSE THEY NO LONGER HAVE "OUT OF TOWNERS" PUTTING MONEY INTO THEIR ECONOMY. I WOULDN'T WASTE MY SPIT ON NEW YORKERS.

I don't know about NYC proper but property taxes are thru the roof in the southern part of the state. (other than NYC-which I do not know) I am tired of people lumping all NY license plates with NYC it is a big state--( I think one of the larger ones actually)

Washington DC welcomes all travelers who wish to visit a world class city and enjoy our many Museums, Theater, fine dining, clubs and unlimited shopping venues. The only time I take any notice of New Yorkers is indeed in traffic as they are very rude to all others. Queens - rise above yourself - being raised in Gangland is not a life sentence.
