We all know it's dangerous to be the only one in a section cheering for the away team. But did you know you could be arrested for it? San Diego police officers arrested a New York Jets fan during this Sunday's playoff game at San Diego's stadium. As you can see in the video (after the jump), the fan (and his lady friend) was clearly posing no threat to his nearby seatmates when the police began to go after him. In fact, Chargers fans even come to his aid to tell police the man in question had done nothing wrong. An officer responds saying the Jets fan was resisting arrest. Um, wouldn't you?
The fans and the arrestee were outraged. We smell a lawsuit coming! And the happy advancement of the Jets in the playoffs. Take that, angry policemen.

This is obviously the epitome of Police taking advantage of being Police. The guy didn't do anything except act like a Fan having a good time. Why he was arrested is a major question? Unless he had done something earlier or they spotted him and he had a warrant issue? Looks like a bad decision on the side of the Police. Probably a major Law Suit, but the Police most always win, right or wrong....

i was a charger fan, however, the way they treated the jets fan was totally uncalled for. i hope his girlfriend got the names of the people sitting around her so that they can sue the shit out of the san diego police and the charger organization!!!

GO TEXANS! lol That SH*T wouldn't fly here in TEXAS. The cops here at least have some moral dignity and act like good sportsmen. This is a prime example of abusing poer given to them by that very man they just arrested. Legally, he was resisting arrest... but also under the law, after he resisted being detained they did have the authority to arrest him. ITs crap everyone knows it. SHOULD HAVE BEEN A TEXAN FAN lol we save lots of money every year by not having to buy PLAYOFF TICKETS lol :(, money that this guy could have saved for BAIL. Prps to his girlfriend though to get the numbers of witnesses before she left. and why didnt the cops arrest her for being a jets fan too.lol jk

The policeman (it seems all of them), were very wrong and hopefully will pay for their poor treatment of this Jets fan. Wish at least one of the policeman would have spoken up and said something about how horrible all the rest of the policeman were acting towards the Jets fan. So glad to hear so many of the Charger Fans trying to defend him(esp. the one the cops made go with them). I do not even like the New York Jets as a team, but the cops were way OUT OF LINE!!!!

Being a Jets fan and doing that in a crowd of Chargers fans, he must have been arrested for inciting a riot lol...

This is a PRIME example how the MEDIA can and do take things twisting then around to FIT into whatever the MEDIA wants it to at any certain time. Why didn't they, the media, find out what was really going on here rather than just "reporting" whatever they want. Any person with half a brain knows damn well this guy wasn't arrested for being a Jets fan lol. I wonder though, just how many STUPID people reading this "article" actually beleives this guy was taken in just becuase he's a Jets fan and sitting around nothing but Charger fans??? Also, I wonder just how stupid the MEDIA actually thinks the public is? Well, by reading some of these posts in here, it's no surprise the MEDIA can say and do the things they have and will continue to and get away with it all with countless drones just believing whatever they have to say. Please people, use your BRAINS for a change huh?!?!?!

Perhaps he was being arrested for being a douche! Seriously, it's obnoxious and rude to sit on the opposing teams side and bark while doing his little circle dance. Idiot.

Screw you San Diego. At least you will not have any more games this year because you stink. Maybe you should play in your own league. WOW I cant believe everybody lets things like this happen of course this is CA.

It looks/sounds like JOE while in jail in the past was ganged banged and can't wait to get back in. I guess the voices that I heard screaming at the cop that the Jets fan did nothing wrong were dubed into the video?,I didn't see any beer or alcohal. But the real clicher here is another one of S/D's finest coming in after the fact and taking a innocent bystander "outside", for what. If he wanted to start a Homo-erotic relationship he could have done it in a more gentlmenly manner.I know that these "LAWMEN" put thier lives on the line day in and day out by walking up and down the isles making sure the fans don't kill each other. As far as Karma, the Chargers had to lose with these BOZO,s in thier statium. Please don't assign those officers to the horse races, they might end up arresting everyone there !!!!

I hope tha tthe San Diego Police Dept fires these officers, this was tottlay uncalled for. Because they are Charger Fans does not mean they can arrest some one for routing for the other team. I hope this man does sue.

I agree. While we don't see in this video what, if anything this guy did wrong, the police should have at least taken a minute to investigate the issue since so many in that area were all saying the guy had done nothing wrong. Looks like a lawsuit to me, and possibly a big money one, given possible harm to the fan and the embarrassment involved.

What are u trying to say Joe? Was this guy smuggling in drugs? Did he enter the game with a fake ticket? Since you seem to know why this guy WAS arrested please share your knowledge with us idiots who are only calling it as we see it!

Yes, it makes perfect sense that he was guilty of resisting arrest. Of course, when a bunch of thugs grabs one for no reason, abusing the power entrusted in them, most people wouldn't roll over for cop abuse. I'm surprised they didn't tazer his wife for good measure.
