The ghettoness of Bronx housing projects isn't enough to keep residents inside after dark -- but an infestation of skunks sure as sh** is. People have been complaining that they can't go outside without coming across swarms of skunks. And there are even possums hanging from trees.
Why are country animals suddenly living in the city? They moved in about three years ago, when construction at a nearby golf course began and they were forced to seek shelters. (In the Bronx?!?) Lately, the situation has gotten scary and human residents have been calling 311 to complain about the lack of safety for them and their pets, but the city says there's not much they can do.
New York City Animal Care & Control notes that the skunks are hungry but harmless. And if you think about it, they're little, smelly crime fighters -- no sh** can go down if everyone's afraid to leave their homes. Someone put these guys on the NYPD payroll!
