When we get bored of ogling historical naked ladies at the art museum, we usually take a rest on a bench somewhere. Instead, an unidentified woman at an adult education class at the Metropolitan Museum of Art tore a six-inch tear in a piece of priceless art.The woman tripped and sort of "fell into" Pablo Picasso's "The Actors," an unusually large painting from the artist's "Rose Period."
According to an anonymous tipster, the woman was sitting in front of the painting on the floor and stumbled upon trying to stand, hitting the painting and creating a gash in the lower right-hand corner.
Since the tear is not in the painting's focal point and wasn't totally huge, the curatorial staff at the Met expects to have the painting repaired and back on display in time for a huge Picasso exhibition that will be opening there in late April.
But just so you know, this is why we can't have nice things.
