Poor Gavin Newsom. The San Francisco mayor drops out of the governor's race, but still has to come back home to face a localized meme aimed at irritating him so much that he gives up running the city, too.

That's the apparent goal of the guy who runs MuniFail; the site's sole reason for being is to allow Bay Area commuters a simple, easy means to send the mayor a message through Twitter every time they're late to work because of a breakdown somewhere in San Francisco's notoriously problematic Muni system. It's kind of like the 2010 answer to leaving a flaming bag of dog poo on the steps of City Hall.

The site is the brainchild of frustrated commuter Mike Monteiro, who also runs another related site which belies the meme-within-a-meme that is his life, apparently -- Has Gavin Newsom Resigned Yet?
