TripAdvisor uses visitor reviews to rank the best and worst hotels in the U.S. and, after a nice stint at the number one most disgusting spot, New York's Hotel Carter no longer makes the list.

Instead, our fair city has secured the sixth crappiest spot, thanks to the New York Inn. Shockingly, there are more horrific hotels in places such as San Francisco, Virginia Beach and Missouri.

But make no mistake -- sixth place is still the kind of hotel room that would make your mother cry. Gothamist points out a lovely review saying, "On one of the days of our trip, my boyfriend was offered heroin while we entered the hotel!!!!!!! also we were awoken one night by sex orgy going on ..." Sounds lovely.
