There was a time, long ago, when the Big Ten actually had 10 teams, and was more than just the slower, goofier version of the SEC. It's because of our reverence for those halcyon (but chilly) days of three-yards-and-a-cloud-of-dust and Bobby Knight throwing things that we've been waiting with baited breath for the announcement of what large, Rust Belt university will soon become the Big Ten's 12th member.

Our friends at With Leather are now reporting that rumors that the spot will go to the University of Pittsburgh appear to have merit. It's hard to argue against Pitt's selection -- the geography works, and the Panthers have the pedigree and talent to more than hold their own in football and basketball.

But does this move do it for you? Or were you looking for the struggling power conference to make more of a splash?

Pittsburgh -- looks like the winner.345 (34.1%)
Cincinnati -- maybe then the Bearcats could keep their coaches.130 (12.8%)
