Thomas Dold won his fifth-straight "Empire State Building Run-Up" title yesterday, beating more than 300 equally insane racers up 86 flights of stairs to the ESB's Observatory.

That's 1,576 individual stairs.

While Dold's time was good enough to beat all other men (ranging in age from 18 to 72), he told the NY Daily News that first place wasn't good enough and that he'd be back in 2011 to snag the world record -- 9 minutes and 33 seconds -- which was set in 2003.

Don't these people know the midtown landmark has an elevator? 73 elevators, to be exact.
