AccuWeather meteorologist Jim Kosek may not be a household name yet, but one of his recent forecasts threatens to change all that. In a clip that has over 300,000 YouTube hits, Kosek fluctuates between flat-lining and freaking out while discussing the impending snowfall in Baltimore.

The clip is full of high-volume, highly quotable potential catchphrases, but our favorite is "Tertiary problem (yeah I've been reading the dictionary) blowing and drifting AAAHHHH!"

Some cynics have suggested that Kosek's wintry diatribe was pure stagecraft, rather than a true spleen-venting. We wanted to get inside the mind of the Mad Meteorologist, so we reached out to Kosek to find out if the tirade was the real deal.

Keep reading to read what Kosek had to say and watch his now-famous forecast.

We asked Kosek what the reaction has been, so far, to the clip.

"Good and bad," he says. "You have some people who love it, others absolutely hate it. Some people don't think you should screw around at all -- they need to get a life! Others take precious time out of their daily routines and have nothing but kind words to say, and to them, I can't thank enough. That's why I keep doing it each and every day. If I didn't, I'd probably be in my grave right now."

Cautiously, we asked if the forecast was a put-on, or an actual flip-out.

"Oh, no put-on at all. I flipped out about it. Snow looks pretty when it's on the ground, but when you gotta go out and shovel it, you've gotta stare at it for days, weeks, months on end, it gets old." He then lapsed into a partial flashback, repeating his entreaty for a ticket to New Orleans.

Kosek concedes that part of it is entertainment, but when he sees that much snow coming, he's "not a happy camper."

Given a choice, we'll take Kosek's amped-up delivery on special occasions like this. Really, if a weatherman can't get excited about 14-22 inches of snow, what's the point?
