Criminal masterminds, your job just got much easier, thanks to social media sites like foursquare, Google Buzz and Twitter, which allow users to post their locations (in addition to their utterly banal thoughts). Please Rob Me is an application built on top of Twitter's open API. It searches for phrases like "just left home" or "checked in at the airport." And since foursquare shows where you live, it's easy enough for the criminally inclined to break in while your away. Bonus: If you've posted your whole itinerary online, then your would-be robber will know exactly how long they have to operate, as well as how much loot they can make off with.
The developers of Please Rob Me aren't actually attempting to help those struggling, poor meth heads out there. Rather, they want to prove a point, which is that on the social Web, you are giving your friends way more information than they could want -- but just the right amount to make the bad guys happy.
