Newly released Ministry of Defense documents have revealed that thousands of UFOs have been spotted around the U.K. over the last 20 years.

The 6,000 pages of accounts have been released under a three-year project between the Ministry and the National Archives. The fifth installment released contains 24 files of encounters, letters and accounts, all of which are available to view online.

Some of the highlights of the report are the sketches, including the one seen here.

The most intriguing case is that of Ralph Noyes, a former senior MOD official who describes seeing a film shot by Royal Air Force pilots in 1956 of UFOs following their planes. Noyes says in the letter that the footage was shown at a secret underground screening arranged for air defense staff in 1970.

More typical is the story of a Lancashire man who sat in a beer garden and saw "two bright lights" moving quickly across the sky, before disappearing beyond the horizon.
