Last Wednesday, a lynx managed to mosey on over to the downhill course during the men's open training session.

A lynx, aside from being a very powerful Scrabble word, is a 30-lb. cat with a bad attitude and an apparent penchant for snow sports.

Fortunately, no athletes came close enough to have any contact with the lynx, as the slope was already on hold due to foggy conditions. However, the officials issued a warning over the race radio in case anyone was still out on the course.

The lynx then sauntered back into the woods, most likely to finish eating a newborn child.

A local conservation officer was summoned, and it was decided there was no reason to stop the action on the course. John Gibson, venue press manager at Whistler Sliding Centre, offered this reassurance: "The creature was not a cougar." Click through for more pictures of the wild cat practicing his downhill sports.
