Today is National Margarita Day. Says who? We don't know.

Neither does the Internet, the guy from my neighborhood liquor store, or Veronica, a representative from Orlando's chain of Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville restaurants.

"I don't know who started [National Margarita Day]" says Veronica. "But we're celebrating, and we've got a lot of giveaways. We're giving a free bottle of Margarita Mix to anyone named Marguerite, Margarita or Rita!"

So apparently if enough people repeat and eventually believe something -- it becomes fact. Maybe Jimmy Buffett himself is even pulling the strings behind this operation.

Nonetheless, Asylum still approves, because, like Sammy Hagar, we enjoy margaritas, female-friendly cocktails, and women with tequila buzzes. We'll go a step further, though, and throw our support behind several other cocktails -- and a couple of shots -- each worthy of their own bizarro holiday.

That's right -- we're creating days of celebration for a cocktail of other female-friendly cocktails, starting with an obnoxious mixture of alcohol appropriately named for an obnoxious region of the country.

Long Island Iced Tea Day
Ingredients: A popular version of the Long Island Iced Tea mixes equal parts vodka, gin, tequila, rum, and triple sec with 1 1/2 parts sour mix and a splash of cola.
Celebrated on: May 28
This drink might even deserve its own week. The Long Island Iced Tea, packed with a ridiculous amount of liquor, has the ability to accelerate anyone's night from first to fifth gear, or from fifth gear to passed out. That's what happens when a guy on Long Island takes the bottom of every bottle and pours it into a highball glass.

Sex On The Beach Day
Ingredients: 1 1/3 ounces vodka, 2/3 ounce peach Schnapps, 1 1/3 ounces cranberry juice and 1 1/3 ounces orange juice.
Celebrated on:
July 24
Not only is the Sex on the Beach a flavorful cocktail, but it's also healthy; the orange juice contains the essential vitamin C, and cranberry juice promotes urinary tract health.

Lemon Drop Day
Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz vodka, lemon wedge, and sugar.
Celebrated on: April 3
The Lemon Drop, not only the namesake of Asylum's sister Web site, is a great social drink that female bar-goers will enjoy. Pass the vodka shots around along with lemon slices covered with sugar. Then take the vodka shot and bite into the sugar-covered lemon. Then it's up to you, gentlemen, to make conversation with the ladies. No drink will help you with that.

Fuzzy Navel Day
Ingredients: 3 ounces peach Schnapps and 3 ounces orange juice poured over ice in a highball glass and garnished with an orange.
Celebrated on: August 17
Not to be confused with your belly button, "fuzzy" in the name refers to the peach, and "navel" to the orange. The popular '80s drink is sure to please, and also reminds us of Tom Cruise's 1988 role as a bartender in "Cocktail", with the tag line, "When he pours, he reigns."

Red Headed Slut Day
Ingredients: Served as either a mixed drink or a shooter, but more commonly the latter which consists of equal parts Jagermeister, peach schnapps and cranberry juice poured into a shot glass.
Celebrated on:
July 2
Details: One variation is known as the Lindsay Lohan -- just add a splash of Coke. Enjoy.
