Along the 408 Expressway in Orange County, Fla., motorists have noticed scores of birds, either dead or still twitching, lying on the road. When Fish and Wildlife officials were called in, they counted about 50 of them, nearly all American robins. Is it a plot of the Joker, or something even more sinister? Officials say that, thanks to excessive snowfall up north, more birds are migrating south. They may have then eaten some berries that caused them to become intoxicated or simply chosen the wrong place for a nap. That's right, experts think the birds are drunk and/or stupid lazy.
And sure, if that's what the experts say, who are we to disagree? Maybe dozens of perfectly normal birds that managed to migrate all the way to Florida from potentially as far north as Canada just up and decided to have a nap on the highway. That could happen. Or they all took a moment to feast on some tequila berries then finish their bender on the side of the road. Anything's possible, right? It's not like anyone is suggesting supervillainy. Certainly not us.
