I don't even know where to start. First off, grats on the first date B.Jo (and the blue balls, I guess).

I am going to partially disagree with Emily and her "advice" though. For the most part it's genuinely(sp.) sound... though it did sound like it came from the back cover of Dummies Guide to Dating.

There are a few things you should consider B. Jo:

1) Background: You have an advantage here because she has her likes/dislikes posted on her profile. If you take the time to do a little research, I'm sure you could set up a perfect date, followed by conversation of mutual interest.

2) Blue Balls theory: What Emily did not mention is it's WOMAN who often decide in the first 5 minutes if she will sleep with a man. So yeah, B. Jo, it's safe to say first impressions (and sometimes the 2nd) is very important. Consider, as well, that we live in a society with a heirarchy.

What does that mean?! Don't worry little Bj, I'll feed you that answer as well.

Offering to pay, opening doors, suggesting a place to eat (after doing your research) shows a type of passive dominance we like to call "confidence". It's reflects a strong man taking charge.

And last but not least:

3)Chemistry: Take heed here, guy. More often than not, in a relationship, one partner will have stronger feelings than the other. If you really like her (which you shouldn't yet since you've just met), try to restrain your emotions just a bit. Give your partner a chance to appreciate the time with a new individual without any pressure. After all, rushing love is the equivalent to "emotional rape".

Gluck on date 2... and your "nasty case of blue balls".
