While most Web-savvy people haven't used Internet Explorer 6 in many moons, the folks at Aten Design group, a company which designs Web sites, still have to test their products on the notoriously insecure browser.

So when Google announced it was no longer supporting IE6 in all of its products, Aten Design decided to celebrate the event with a funeral. Invites were sent out, and the response was so overwhelming they needed to get a bigger room to accommodate the 100 mourners.

"Internet Explorer Six, resident of the interwebs for over 8 years, died the morning of March 1, 2010, in Mountain View, California, as a result of a workplace injury sustained at the headquarters of Google, Inc," read the obit.

Will there be more wakes for the deaths of other superfluous Internet dinosaurs? "We don't want to beat a dead horse," said Alten's business development manger Jon Clark. "But if there's anything worth celebrating, we'll think about it." Read on to see some photos from the unusual funeral.
