A man who had one too many drinks and fell into the path of an oncoming train was dragged to safety with only seconds to spare. The near-death incident happened in Phoenix, when the man stood up to board a train which was arriving at his platform. Security footage shows the man staggering with his bag for a couple of seconds, before falling headfirst onto the track.
But then -- as the headlights of the train get closer -- two police assistants spring into action, managing to lift the man back to the safety of the platform.
One of the police assistants said of their rescue, "We really didn't have the time to think about it. It was just something we saw right in front of us. I feel like if we would have thought about it, the whole situation would have been different."
Keep reading to check out the video, and don't worry, while the video cuts off before the drunk and the officers are safe, cops insist that no one was injured.

Yea, for all we know they jumped down there, said to hell with this, and left him alone.

Maybe the train was able to stop in time anyway and the rest of the clip makes the rescue seem less heroic. The fact is these police officers ran in front of a moving train to help someone who was defenseless. The important portion of the video is what we have seen, there was no hesitation. No thought of personal safety or even duty to their families, just the instant response of some guys who want to help their fellow man.

Just to be correct here the train only travels at 11-17 miles per hour at full speed. Remember the train was stopping at the station in the video so it maybe was doing about 10 miles per hour so they had plenty of time to get him back up onto the platform. They still did a good job but that is what they are there for, to keep people off the tracks because the designers didn't have a clue of a better design.

Looks staged. Don't really believe anything put forth in the media. My favorite entertainment is watching government through many "vehicles" trying to prove they are not criminals.

To walk on or around rails and ties requires concentration. Regardless of the speed of the train, it was obviously close, and understandably, a source of distraction. The drunk could have held them, or tripped them, or caused the rescuers to stumble. The rescuers could easily have been hit by the train. What the guards did was strong and courageous.

No, seriously...why do they cut off the video at the crucial point? Clearly, if it was a successful rescue, there was nothing too incredibly graphic to show, so why don't we get to see the whole thing? How freakin' stupid and annoying is that???
