The hot dog has always held a special place in the collective, artery-clogged heart of America, but its often overlooked brother will get the recognition it deserves this Saturday, March 20. National Corndog Day (NCD) pays tribute to the corn-breaded wiener-on-a-stick with parties held across the nation.
Coinciding with the first Saturday of the NCAA men's basketball tournament, the movable feast starts at tip-off-with partygoers downing corndogs, tater tots and beer -- and goes until the final buzzer that night. This is America, so obviously there is a competition to consume as much as inhumanly possible.
For those who choose to compete, the greatest NCD accomplishment is the Triple-Double, in which a brave soul swallows down 10 corndogs, 10 units of tater tots (100 tots total) and 10 beers.
If that feat seems too daunting, polishing off just two of the three earns you a "Double-Double" (but less respect). Wanna participate in March Munchness and fill your maw brackets with corndogs? Keep reading to find a NCD party near you.
