Look, we're the first to admit that Snoop Dogg isn't a foolproof style guru. It's always wise to be wary of taking fashion tips from a man in his late-30s who spends much of his time dressed in brightly colored, oversize tracksuits and skullcaps. And if you were thinking of emulating Snoop's glossy, straightened hair and suit get-up from the mid-'90s, well, just don't.

All that being said, you don't get to be as cool as Mr. Calvin Broadus without looking the part, at least sometimes. As on vinyl, so with his wardrobe, Snoop likes to blend playful touches and smooth glamour with tough guy posturing -- which makes for some outlandish looks alongside more inspired choices.

We like it when Snoop tones it down a little and keeps it classic: like this timeless, Compton-in-the-mid-80s flannel shirt combo. No nonsense, old-school hip-hop styling with a just a dash of typical Snoop flair.

In honor of the Doggfather's latest cut -- a beefed up, re-released version of his 2008 disc "Malice N Wonderland," this time titled "More Malice" -- check out our version of his threads below.

Eighty Eight Buffalo Plaid Shirt
A good plaid shirt is a wardrobe staple. Rocking an over-sized version with its top button fastened and color-coordinating it with a baseball cap gives you a "straight outta LA in the golden age of hip-hop"-vibe. ($18 from Kohls.com)

Marc by Marc Jacobs 'Uniform Fit' Jeans (in Dark Rinse)

Looks like Snoop's got a little shine going on in his dark wash denim. These jeans by Marc by Marc will provide you with the same slick effect. ($188 from Nordstrom.com)

Detroit Tigers New Era 59Fifty MLB C-Dub
For some reason, the "We Da West" logo on Snoop's hat appears to incorporate the "W" from the Washington Nationals' logo and a "D" borrowed from the Detroit Tigers. Geographical dubiousness aside, this Tigers cap fits the baby blue bill.
($27 from Lids.com)

Pampa Hi Canvas (in Dark Slate/Putty)
You all know who the usual suspects are when it comes to classic canvas kicks. But we think these new retro hi-tops from Palladium might be just the thing for channeling Snoop's style. They are, after all, made out of hemp!
($65 from PalladiumBoots.com)
