Poor Teddy Roosevelt can't buy a victory: With three 2010 National Presidents Races in the books, he remains winless.Just before opening day, Asylum chronicled the off-season training efforts of the Washington Nationals' lovable loser Teddy Roosevelt, who competes in the Presidents Race every home game against three other foam-headed stand-ins for dead presidents. Teddy has never won the race.
Despite a rigorous off-season training regimen and the support of a raucous fan base, Teddy failed to break through in the Nationals' series against the Philadelphia Phillies last week.
In the first race of the new season, reports the unofficial Presidents Race blogger, "[Teddy] took a close lead around the final turn, but appeared to pull up lame after high-fiving a fan in the stands."
Show your support today and win one of two Teddy Roosevelt Bobblehead dolls. He's sure to make a great paperweight, baseball collectible or drinking buddy.
To enter the contest, all you need to do is leave a comment on this article. The last day to enter will be April 20 at 6 p.m. EST.

Curse you, Smiley! After reading your article on Teddy's new training regiment, I blew my rent money on the soft speaker with the big stick...now I'm being evicted! A curse on you and all your loved ones!

I've been rocking my "Let Teddy Win!" pin on my Nationals hat for over a year now. I'm really hoping they tell him to walk softly, then give him a really big stick to whack the other Big Heads with.

It's a bummer that such a badass just can't win the race. I guess the consolation is that he was a better president. Or maybe the consolation is that he's just a guy in a foam suit who gets free entry to the Nat's games...
