80 percent of men and 75 percent of women lose their virginity by age 19.While men in their teens and early 20s are more likely to claim that they've circled the bases at least one time, females become the more broadly experienced sex after age 25.
According to the Web site Book of Odds -- using figures from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention -- the chances that a man between the ages of 25 and 44 has never had intercourse are 1 in 35.71; whereas the odds are 1 in 58.22 for a woman in the same age group.
Another interesting fact: if you are a male of sexual age who reports still having his V-card intact, you are more likely to have an IQ that is either significantly higher or lower than average.
Although we can't read too much into that until we see a study which examines the correlation between IQ and giving honest responses to sex surveys.

So, most Americans lose their virginity in their teens? Hmmm, in other news, researchers have just discovered that water is wet and that the sky is blue.

I think lumping together all teens confuses things. Older teens are in college already. I wonder if the numbers have changed any over time?
And I really wonder if guys are having sex at an earlier age than girls or if they just claim to have had sex. It seems odd to me when it's so much easier for girls to get sex than guys.
@urkidn - Actually, they didn't say exactly what age they meant for virgin guys.
