Yesterday's Tax Day Tea Party in Washington, D.C., was shaping up to be a real washout. Aside from some minor punctuation issues, the signs were all spelled correctly, and were only offensive in the way that "The Lockhorns" cartoons are. The rest of it was your run-of-the-mill "NObama's a Socialist" stuff. Yawn. But then, I heard a familiar voice singing backup to a country singer onstage. It was former "Saturday Night Live" star Victoria Jackson, who effectively quit showbiz in the early '90s to raise a family, but now lends her talents to the Tea Party movement and other conservative causes.
I caught up with Victoria backstage, and we talked about why she thinks Barack Obama is "un-American," and why universal health care doesn't make Mitt Romney a socialist, among other things.
Victoria was one of my favorites on "SNL" growing up, so I tried to take it easy on her, but her worldview, like that of many Tea Partiers, is based almost completely on misinformation and pure fantasy.
Toward the end, I sensed we were headed for an argument, so maybe it's just as well that another reporter interrupted us. Check out the video after the jump.
Tommy Christopher is Asylum's White House correspondent, who hopes he is not now in a feud with Victoria Jackson.

She's hilarious, and I love watching her on that comedy court show that comes on at nights. I'll give her this...she did her research.
Maybe the writer of this article could learn a lesson from her instead of assuming everyone's worldview who doesn't agree with his must be "misinformed" or steeped in "pure fantasy".

The people who support Obama worship him, so they can’t believe that anyone would ever be again him on any issue. Thus, they believe anyone who opposes him is misinformed, a racist, crazy, etc.
They just can’t believe a reasonable person could ever be against him based on thoughtful analysis of his proposed policies and the lessons of history.
Unfortunately, the left has to resort to name calling and vilifying because they just can’t understand that reasonable people can disagree.

To all non-Americans reading this:
Please, please don't think we are all as stupid and misinformed as Victoria Jackson.

I support George Bush president for ever, under his leadership, The US went to war against harmless disarmed people but they are infidels and not Christians,,, ignored N.Korea who went under the radar and now they have Nuclear weapons, a real mass destruction weapon, the type the US has, design to annihilate human kind if necessary,,, the arm makers cashed all the tax dollars for years, and made the US a adepter, but you Bush lovers don't want your neighbor to have a partial health security!!!! I think your selfishness smells, and stupidity, bigotry and ignorance have hit the fan already, your type of people need a mental asylum rather than leading a country,,, your way of thinking should be illegal, can't believe you have a voice after what you have done to the country and the world, there will be time when you'll become a minority, your lies won't be heard and your powers will be drained for ever.,...

Wow I really liked her years ago on SNL, always thought she was cute and funny and now she's a ill-informed nut-job. What is it with these guys. She loses her mind and Dennis Miller (who used to be hilarious) becomes and unfunny right-winger and Bill O'Rielly clone. It is sad!

This person actually ATE the Victora Jackson from SNL. *sigh* Why does "going to raise a family" always translate to "get fat as a d*mn cow" here in the U.S.? Geez... She was so on the doable scale years ago - what a waste...
What? I didn't focus on her Tea Party comments? Nothing worth focusing on... pure garbage and delusion.
