Yesterday's Tax Day Tea Party in Washington, D.C., was shaping up to be a real washout. Aside from some minor punctuation issues, the signs were all spelled correctly, and were only offensive in the way that "The Lockhorns" cartoons are. The rest of it was your run-of-the-mill "NObama's a Socialist" stuff. Yawn.

But then, I heard a familiar voice singing backup to a country singer onstage. It was former "Saturday Night Live" star Victoria Jackson, who effectively quit showbiz in the early '90s to raise a family, but now lends her talents to the Tea Party movement and other conservative causes.

I caught up with Victoria backstage, and we talked about why she thinks Barack Obama is "un-American," and why universal health care doesn't make Mitt Romney a socialist, among other things.

Victoria was one of my favorites on "SNL" growing up, so I tried to take it easy on her, but her worldview, like that of many Tea Partiers, is based almost completely on misinformation and pure fantasy.

Toward the end, I sensed we were headed for an argument, so maybe it's just as well that another reporter interrupted us. Check out the video after the jump.
