Given their well-chronicled history of Santa-booing, opposing-team-injury-cheering and general mayhem, it takes a lot for the behavior of a Philadelphia sports fan to be labeled "shocking." But Matthew Clemmens proved, quite improbably, that where there's a will, there's a way. The 21-year-old native of Cherry Hill, New Jersey (mug shot, left), deliberately threw up on the 11-year-old daughter of an off-duty police officer during last night's Phillies game.
Clemmens and a friend were sitting behind Easton Police Capt. Michael Vangelo and his two daughters at Citizen's Bank Park. The men were reportedly being abusive all game -- spitting, cursing and spilling beer. When Vangelo pointed this out to an usher, Clemmens's buddy was removed from the stadium.
That apparently set Clemmens off, big time, given that he immediately announced his intention to throw up on Vangelo and his daughters. He then stuck two fingers down his throat and proceeded to do just that. Clemmens also allegedly punched Vangelo in the head.
At that point, witnesses intervened and subdued Clemmens, who was arrested for 15 different offenses. He also reportedly threw up on the arresting officer.
The most compelling piece of evidence against Clemmens may be his mugshot, as he happens to look exactly like the kind of guy who would deliberate puke on an 11-year-old girl.

Okay he is a Phillies fan, so that's embarassing enough - BUT its not entirely our (Philly's) fault.
He is from Jersey.

I couldn't agree more. We take no responsibility for douchebags from NJ. It's not our fault they have no real sports team worthy of cheering. I'm not even a Phillies fan but I think there should be a section just for NJ fans to sit and puke on each all day long.

Mel,
It would not be wrong to beat the shit out of him. It would have been perfectly fine to leave his lifeless body there in the ballpark until the cleaning crew came through. (two negatives make a positive) ;)

A fan in the stands who helped subdued him punched him, not the cop. Way to generalize genius.

Excuse me but I am from NJ and I AM NOT a low class piece of trash thank you very much. Not all of us from NJ are like that but I guess you're all too narrowminded and ignorant to realize that. You all probably think the Jersey shore is really like it is on the show too. Sad. I am proud to be a New Jersyan and last time I checked, the Devils are Stanley Cup winners. You can't let one low class scumbag ruin it for the rest but I guess when your brains are up your asses you don't know any better.

If I were the parent, I would see him charged with reckless and deliberate endangerment of a child (he did announce his intentions). Vomit certainly is a body fluid so the potential for disease transmission is definitely present. Then, I would see that his body tested for every disease known to man - at his expense since this was a deliberate act - and I mean every disease from every conceivable entry point - but that's just me. What is it about professional sports that make so many vacillate to the point of incredible stupidity?
