A database of cheaters is potentially the most frightening list for a man to find himself on, outside of potential jurors and Becky Jones' "Not Hot" list from sixth Grade (I still remember, and it hurts.)
So we're pretty freaked out by Cheater Registry, a new website that is making it possible for men and women to upload names of cheaters, sordid details of relationships gone wrong and even photographic proof.
Since starting a little over a month ago, the site has seen more than 10,000 sign-ups and 100 non-celebrity postings.
The creators of the site (a group of friends who came up with the idea at a round-table meeting) acknowledge that there is a great amount of responsibility that comes with such sensitive information. That's why all proof is vetted before posts to go live. But what constitutes proof?
"It could be video, text, the last three digits of their phone number or photographic evidence," one of the site's creators, Victoria, tells us. But, perhaps unfortunately, they do censor the proof. Apparently, there have been instances where images have been so graphic, interns have literally vomited. "Think 'Two Girls, One Cup.'"
We'd rather not. Asylum attempted to reach out to several of the culprits listed on the site, but they were (unsurprisingly) hesitant to respond.
We did speak briefly with a couple of the posters, who requested anonymity. Neither of them lacked shame when it came to exposing cheaters, but both seemed reluctant to sacrifice their own privacy. Are their postings just an outlet for frustrated feelings?
"The site is definitely not about vindication," Victoria urges. "There was a day when a story ran about the site, and we got 22,000 hits. It was a Friday, and we got 33 posts that weren't cheaters. There was no proof. We had to take the posts down and email each of the posters."
Still, some of the posters responded with lengthy, descriptive justifications of the cheater's authenticity. One woman sent an email that was semi-suicidal, prompting the staffers to telephone her. Her partner had been seeing someone for over six years, on and off, when finally he told her that he had no interest in marrying her.
Thankfully, the good people at Cheater Registry talked her off the ledge. "If nothing else happens, that would make this all worth it," Victoria told us.
That sounds like enough of a reason to join the site to us. Well, that, and putting out the APB on that college girlfriend who slept with your lab partner.

Cheaters like criminal, bad drivers, people who liter, etc. do so when they think no one is watching. I'm all for exposing the slimy underbelly of people. Let others know how they really act when they think no one is looking, i.e., they won't get caught!

We're not all the same. I've cheated on my wife once, I admit. Worst mistake of my life.
I always swore up and down I'd never be one of "those" people. But I let myself get into a situation where the temptation was present, and have regretted it ever since.
People make mistakes, and we must atone for them, but we don't all do it habitually.

This seems like a good idea but I worry about the potential for abuse and the invasion of privacy. The best revenge you can get on an ex is to move on and be happy.

The point everyone is missing with this site is the fact that 1. It can be considered as an invasion or privacy and 2. As a practicing lawyer in Illinois this site will be ripe for lawsuits based on slander and damage of character. The site will not be able to hide behind the fact they they are not doing the postings as they are the ones allowing them. I will look forward to eventually reading about all of this in the news and full intend on offering legal services to anyone in the state of Illinois, both men and women, who end up on this site as I should be able to make a very decent profit in the end. HAPPY CHEATING!

I don't think there's enough room out there to post all of the cheaters! In my experience if they are male, they will cheat, every man in my life has at one point cheated, from my father, brother, ex husband, ex boyfriends, all of them. Yes, I have known quite a few females who've cheated as well!!

You need some sort of proof AND a 'sponsor' for each cheater (ie ex girlfriend)...

I don't think it's fair to say that it's only men that are out there cheating. Women make mistakes just like men. There's enough temptation out there for all of us.

I believe they should also make a registry site so all the chicks who are easy and put out, can be on there. That way, the cheating guys can match up with them and viola! Match made in heaven.
Bet the NAGS would have a problem with that. But, they have no issue with this one. Just like during the Monica thing, what a bunch of hipocrites

I also wish that you had this signt when my boyfriend had given me a STD. then tried to blame it on me! then i took his cell phone(which I had gotten for him by the way)and called all the numbers on it to let all of the 55 other girls what he was about. So you had better believe that I got my point across, plan and sweet. I also turned him into the state board of health. Which was cool, because he had to deal with them on the 25 bother women that he gave the STD to. I did not play arount with the freek any more.

There should be no post made by "anonymous". If you wanted to put it out there, then own it!! I do agree with a previous post, the best revenge is living a happy life. Let it go. It is their problem not yours. He (or she) is just not that into you. Next.
I see potential lawsuits for the site owners. Hope they really check out their sources.

This is silly. I've known people who cheated in one relationship but not in another. Relationships are a two way street, chemistry is complicated. This site is "he said she said". I'll be interested to see how long this site lasts after the first slander lawsuit hits.

Careful about tossing stones on spelling...getalife. The "to" in your comment is a mispelling...it should be "too".

Don't be too quick to toss ( used two out of three, correctly, not bad - no, wait - I used ALL three - Ka-CHING!). J.MAC, YOU misspelled "misspelling" ( one of the most commonly misspelled words in the English language).
