Friends, family, and fans of Deadliest Catch Captain Phil Harris gathered for a memorial service at the edge of Elliot Bay in Seattle on Friday April 30, 2010 amidst moody skies, rain, and a biting wind. Captain Phil would have enjoyed the memories shared by some of his closest friends and would have been touched by the fans that flew cross-country to bid him farewell.

Nothing would have made Phil happier than to see the strong contingent of Harley Davidson enthusiasts on hand. Phil Harris once said that people can watch things happen, make things happen, or wonder what happened and he left this world as a Bering Sea Captain that made things happen. Phil was remembered as a committed father, friend, and fisherman on the stormy Seattle waterfront he cruised past in the Cornelia Marie for years.

Friends, family, and Discovery Channel executives spoke at Harris' memorial with a video tribute of Phil closing the service. The worst of the rain held off until the end of Harris' memorial, which sent those in attendance searching for cover.
