Our look at the best locations for a first date spurred some interesting reactions from our readers. Apparently some of them are over dinner and drinks or strolling around an art museum and have found that making their own stuffed animals is a great way to connect with a lady.

Reader Jerry was first in with the idea, writing, "I don't know if you can find them everywhere, but I must say that the best place for a first date is ... Build-A-Bear! That's right, girls love the quality time you spend there, and makes you look like a winner."

Ramona
replied, "What a great venue, Jerry! Speaking as a woman and (experienced) dater, I love the idea of building a bear on the first date. Not only does the choice show creativity on your part, but the location allows for conversation and a chance for each of you to express a sense of humor."

Just when we thought we might be witnessing another possible commenter love connection, Michele came along and said what many were no doubt thinking: "Jerry, that's great if you're dating a teenager, but not so impressive for dating a professional woman in her late 20s or early 30s."

Next, Marie suggested a more adult-appropriate way to break the ice: "Many of my dates golf, and I don't. So mini-golf was the perfect place. The guy was confident and at ease, instead of being nervous, and I had fun and laughed too, especially if I won. Regardless, we both have a good time."

Oliver concurred regarding scoring on the "back nine": "I agree mini-golf is one of the best first dates. You are outside; it is relaxed, fun atmosphere; you get to see how competitive the other person is or if they can just have a great time; [and] also if they are impatient, if there is a line. A bite to eat or drinks after completes the evening. Suggestion: Crow's Nest Mini Golf, Nautical Mile, Freeport [in New York State]. Waterfalls, caves, romantic ... on the waterfront."

As avid mini-golf fans, you just described our perfect evening, Oliver. (Do we spot another possible love connection? Or at least a comment section spring fling?)
