Band of Horses Ben BridwellSome bands wear their influences on their sleeves. Band of Horses members wear them on their yoke-style shoulder panels, double-V-motif breast pockets and mother of pearl snap fasteners. They're also embodied on their beards, straggly hair, battered blue jeans and Stetsons.

Band of Horses makes its musical home on the windswept, Western prairies of '70s-style Americana. Following in the cowboy-booted footsteps of like-minded souls My Morning Jacket, Fleet Foxes and Midlake, the hirsute Carolina-by-way-of-Seattle quintet has been plying its twangy, sepia-tinted trade since 2004, with a couple of critically praised albums and a clutch of melancholy singles -- including its lovely debut "The Funeral" -- to show for it.

Now, having moved from Sub Pop to Columbia Records for the release of its third album, "Infinite Arms," it looks like Ben Bridwell's plaintive vocals and his band's dust-blown country rock are set to jump from the world of blog love to mainstream acclaim.

Even better, the band's classic indie-Americana uniforms are ripe for appropriation as a go-to summer music festival ensemble. Check out our version below.

Salt Valley Wallpaper Western
A few years back, western shirts used to identify their wearers as fans of a certain sort of folk and country-tinged musical nostalgia. Nowadays, the classic, plaid-hued, snap-buttoned top has become something of an all-purpose indie-rock fixture. With hip and hard-wearing numbers like this faux-vintage Urban Outfitters effort, it's easy to see why. ($30 from UrbanOutfitters.com)

Stetson Diamond Jim (in Black)
If you're going to rock a Stetson, you can't go wrong with this classic design, available at Austin institution Allens Boots. For a cheaper, festival-ready option, try a suitably scruffy, straw-style number. ($165 from AllensBoots.com)

Vaughn in Assylum Identity Blue Jeans
These casual, mid-blue Rock and Republic jeans are ideal festival wear. Slim and rocking, but faded and scruffy enough, with a little more room to breathe, for the summer warmth. Nice (if misspelled) color name, too. ($185 from RockAndRepublic.com)

Rural Charm Hoop NW
This Top Man chain has the same Native American–referencing approach as Bridwell's necklace, with a slightly more rock n' roll, slightly less hippie, vibe. ($30 from TopMan.com)
