Robots are taking over. That's a fact. It's just a matter of time. The good news is that we're not the first to go. That honor falls to the geniuses in Japan who are not only less suspicious than we are of artificial intelligence, but they're positively embracing it.
Take this couple, who married at the first wedding ever led by a robot. The nuptials were led by I-Fairy, a frankly terrifying 4-foot-tall robot with flashing eyes and plastic pigtails.
"Please lift the bride's veil," the robot said, waving its arms in the air as it (probably) contemplated the forthcoming destruction of all mankind.
The wedding took place at a rooftop restaurant in Tokyo. Wires led out from beneath it to a black curtain a few feet where a man controlled it via computer. Or so they say.
Kokoro, the company behind this robo-being (and probably the company who will end up being the real-life Cyberdyne) also makes giant dinosaur robots and lifelike android models that can smile and laugh. Which is not normal.
Keep reading to see the robot in action and consider stocking up on bottled water and corned beef.
