MTA pays $10 million to grandma for accidentIf you were daydreaming about getting hit by a bus for a large settlement, but were unsure what dollar amount you should be envisioning, we have the answer for you. In the case of 80-year-old Josephine Pantano, it's $10 million. Although the jury might have been overly sympathetic since her accident has killed her chances of ever going ballroom dancing again, one of her passions.

Pantano, who has been described as "feisty," was driving to the grocery store when a bus ran a red light and plowed into her car. She had a fractured neck, broken leg and a shattered ankle. After months of physical therapy she now walks with a cane and a limp. The bus driver insists that it was Pantano who ran the light, but jurors favored Pantano, who reminded them of what their grandmas would be like if they weren't bitter harpies.

The MTA plans to file an appeal, but until then, remember that when the fares get hiked again and you can't afford ballroom dance lessons anymore, there's a little old lady in Brooklyn who can, and she can't even enjoy them. Oh, the irony.
