Our first of 12 candidates for America's Next Top Beer ...

60 Minute IPA
Dogfish Head Brewing -- Rehoboth Beach, Del.

Bold, brassy, hoppy and slightly sweet, there's nothing pale about this IPA. The craft brew masters at Dogfish Head Brewing add premium Northwest hops to this ale more than 60 times during its 60-minute boil. The result is a complex but super-smooth brew, and another winner from the pride of Rehoboth Beach.

As the Beer Sommelier Matt Simpson says, the Dogfish Head crew is "ready for prime time ... not too small to authentically 'go big.'" And their 60 Minute IPA may be the brew that helps them hit the big time. The Dogfish Head teams says 60 Minute IPA is best paired with spicy foods, grilled salmon and pizza; we think it's best paired with another 60 Minute IPA.

The final word:

Joe Sixpack: "Well-balanced"
The Beer Sommelier: "Citrusy"
Jay Jankowski: "Quaffability"
Asylum reader JustMe: "Fantastic"
