Our first of 12 candidates for America's Next Top Beer ...60 Minute IPA
Dogfish Head Brewing -- Rehoboth Beach, Del.
Bold, brassy, hoppy and slightly sweet, there's nothing pale about this IPA. The craft brew masters at Dogfish Head Brewing add premium Northwest hops to this ale more than 60 times during its 60-minute boil. The result is a complex but super-smooth brew, and another winner from the pride of Rehoboth Beach.
As the Beer Sommelier Matt Simpson says, the Dogfish Head crew is "ready for prime time ... not too small to authentically 'go big.'" And their 60 Minute IPA may be the brew that helps them hit the big time. The Dogfish Head teams says 60 Minute IPA is best paired with spicy foods, grilled salmon and pizza; we think it's best paired with another 60 Minute IPA.
The final word:
Joe Sixpack: "Well-balanced"
The Beer Sommelier: "Citrusy"
Jay Jankowski: "Quaffability"
Asylum reader JustMe: "Fantastic"

I've loved 60 Minute since I first tried it. It's hoppy, citrusy, smooth, and it goes well with any food. All the other beers on the list are good, 60 Minute is the winner!

Forget that Dogfish is amazing... this may be one of the best venues to help get proper recognition for the great State of Delaware.

I was not a fan of this beer when I first heard about it. I was going for the bitter the better here in San Diego, but heard it constantly wins awards and decided to try it in a bottle. However when I went to Virginia a bar had it on tap, and I understood why this brewery constantly wins awards, not overly hopped, good malts, a superbly balanced finish, overall an exceptional beer.

I would have preferred to see the 90 minute here. Although rthe name is more daunting, I find the beer to be more drinkable.

I've had every beer Dogfish Head bottles and must admit that when I'm at the store, looking for a quaffable libation, 60 Minute is my go-to beer. Dogfish Head's attitude of experimentation in beer has certainly expanded my own understanding of what beer can be; 60 minute IPA ought to do the same for those unfortunate souls who've yet convert from their swill-sipping ways.

Dogfish Head is by far my favorite. Although the 60 Minute IPA is outstanding, I am in love with Theobroma, out in July.

Dogfish Head has some of the best IPA's in my opinion. There 60 minute IPA is sold at a store near me and it is one of the few IPA's I actually buy... it's that good!

Dogfish Head 60 Minute is a fantastic IPA. While it's nearly as hoppy as it's brothers 90 and 120 minute it's just as tasty. The hope are balanced to near perfection with the malts. Get's my vote any day of the week.

I love this stuff! Dogfish Head is one of my favorite places to visit. The 60-minute-IPA goes quite well with their out-of-this-world fish & chips!

The 60 Min has to be the best IPA out there. Too bad they don't distribute everywhere.

I love Dogfish, but really.. they should have nominated 90 Minute instead. Easily the most solid of all of their standard offerings. If you can get ahold of their collaboration with Stone and Victory (Saison du BUFF) you definitely should buy as much as possibile.

I love the 60 minute, but I have to wonder: if this is a competition for the best beer in America, why isn't Dogfish's entry one of their crazier beers? The 120 minute is absolutely impeccable, though rather costly. The 90 minute is a hair less intense but still a step above the 60, and the Midas Touch is certainly not without its charms. Granted, I understand that the 60 is a more versatile, affordable, and widely distributed than the three I just named, but I'm not entirely sure that that means it's Dogfish Head's most worthy nominee.
