Required listening from the week in music and comedy.

David Cross"Bigger and Blackerer" finds David Cross returning to stand-up albums after a six-year hiatus. While less politically charged than 2004's "It's Not Funny," Cross still finds plenty of topics (Mormons, drug laws, religious fanatics) that get his blood boiling. It's no "Arrested Development" movie, but Cross, in any form, is always a good thing.

Also in stores:
-- Also in the alt-comedy realm is "Why S*** So Crazy?" from comedian/musician Reggie Watts. Check out the (NSFW) video for "F**k S**t Stack," quite possibly the filthiest song ever written.
-- "The ArchAndroid" from indie R&B sensation Janelle Monae is already earning her comparisons to Erykah Badu and Parliament-Funkadelic. Could this be the first R&B prog rock album?
-- Hey, there's a new self-titled Stone Temple Pilots album! Ah, isn't that sweet? They think it's 1993. Does anyone want this? Wouldn't another Velvet Revolver album be preferable? At least it's not a Scott Weiland solo album. "12 Bar Blues" was one of the worst albums of all time.
