Not only is May 25 Geek Pride Day, it's also Towel Day, which celebrates "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" trilogy.

Both geek-centric holidays are relatively new -- Geek Pride Day came to be in 2006, and Towel Day started in 2001 as a tribute to "Hitchhiker's Guide" author Douglas Adams, who died earlier that year.

One of the most important and surprising developments in geekdom since the death of Adams is that more and more legitimately attractive women have embraced science-fiction and the geek lifestyle.

We rounded up a few pictures of comely lasses showing off their favorite towel -- which Adams wrote was the "most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have" -- for Towel Day.

As the benevolent creature at left wrote about this bewitching image, "If you have no idea what I'm going on about, the answer is 42."
