John F. Kennedy and George Washington were our two richest presidents by far.The Atlantic magazine took into account property, savings, salary, inheritance and royalties when calculating, in present dollars, how much each of the 43 men who have been president were worth at their peak. JFK, due to family money, was valued at a whopping $1 billion, whereas George Washington, who had massive land and slave holdings, checked in at $525 million.
Other presidents who topped the $100 million mark were Thomas Jefferson ($212 million), Teddy Roosevelt ($125 million), Andrew Jackson ($119 million) and James Madison ($101 million).
Barack Obama is currently worth $5 million. That number, however, will likely skyrocket when he leaves office.
Bill Clinton, for example, has already upped his net worth to $38 million -- and the big fella never even did that lucrative McDonald's ad campaign we all expected him to cash in on.

"at their peak."

Yes, I was aware that Jefferson died, virtually penniless, however, that was his final state, not when he was living his life. He was into his eighties before that happened. As far as I know there was no criteria in the study that included his final days, only what he'd been worth. Had you given any thought to that? Madoff was worth a good bit based on what he stole from others, yet, I seriously doubt he'd qualify nowadays. However, he was worth billions before he got hammered.

I AM WAITING FOR THE DAY WHEN IT DOESN'T REQUIRE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT .I SERIOUSLY DO NOT THINK IT IS POSSIBLE FOR SOMEONE WHO IS FILTHY RICH TO UNDERSTAND THE NEEDS OF SIMPLE, MIDDLE CLASS PEOPLE. HOW LONG IS IT GOING TO TAKE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE TO REALIZE THAT? NOTHING EVER CHANGES. IT'S NOT POSSIBLE.GET IT INTO YOUR HEADS....SOON I HOPE.

Wow, Bill's worth $38 million? Hope Hillary doesn't find out cause she won't like that he's so "rich". She believes in redistribution of wealth - right?

Don't let Obama find out, because he will find a way to take it from them! ;-)

It's only other people's wealth she wants to redistribute

Hey...reality check, Hillary is Secretary of State and she has nothing to do with any form of "wealth" distribution. Additionally, if you don't think they are paying their fare share of taxes, what you call distribution of wealth, you are even less intelligent than your post reads.

Reality check Ryan, Hillary Clinton did say just the other day that she was against people making too much money and that it needed to be redistributed. But to be fair, even though I watched that video it may not have been shown on the news channel you watch (MSM). Also, reality check Ryan, what is the latest count of tax-evaders in the current administration? Do you even know???

SHE SAID IT. I HEARD HER. I am officially, right now, right here asking hilliary and bill to distribute $100,000 to me effective within one from today. You can post your response here and I will get back to you for my address. I really, really, really need it badly. Med problems with me and my wife. I sure hope they come through. I believe in her policy. REDISTIBUTE THE WEALTH. Anyone who disagrees with me is a commie and surely not a democrat.

what is given to one is taken from another. a more even distribution of wealth does not mean we will all be wealthier.it means we will all be more equally poor. look at the status of those living in socialist governments. north korea VS south korea for instance.

A woman against Hillary Clinton must have issues with her gender. Grow up. If you are a Republican, which no self respecting woman should be, then was Sarah Plain and Stupid your best shot? God, Republicans are just so dumb or is it their amnesia?

IT TAKES A LOT OF MONEY TO MAKE IT AS PRESIDENT. IT IS ONE OF THE HARDEST JOBS. LOOK HOW MANY PRESIDENTS AGED RAPIDALLY. HOW MANY WERE SHOT AT OR KILLED. MANY PEOPLE BITCH AND EVEN CURSE AT THE PERSON IN OFFICE.I DONT THINK THAT THE LULUS ARE WORTH IT. IT TAKES AN A STRONG EGO TO GO FOR THE TITLE.

Wonder how much Bill Clinton's latest escapade made for him? I am talking about his mission for President Obama to tamper with the Senatorial election in PA, the one where they attempted to apply a little more tax payer funded bribery to try to defeat the will of the people of PA by having Arlen Spector's opponent take a high paying government appointment so that the election would be rigged for Spector to win. It didn't work, the candidate did not take the bribe and Spector was crushed at the polls. All of this stuff is an impeachable offense but boldly Clinton and Obama's chief of staff admitted that they did it and I guess figure that the US press will hardly report it and there are no Woodward and Bernsteins watching this Presidency so even though it IS a impeachable offense to tamper with an election this President will just keeping pour glasses of kool aid for the mindless. I voted for him incidentally and I am appalled at the level of money corruption flying around this administration.

This happened before the Congressman was a candidate for the Senate. The facts are that almost all, if not all, Presidents have done this. There was no paying gig offered for any kind of valuable thing from the Congressman. You need to start getting your information from other that Fox News.

There is nothing illegal about one democrat asking another democrat to consider taking another job and leaving a race. It's done all the time by both parties. Are you telling me Karl Rove didn't pick and choose which candidates he wanted running for which office? Please...get over your hatred of the President and start trying to solve problems rather than trying to cause problems where they don't exist.
