Tom Shepherd is just your average New Yorker, really. He works as the chief inspector for the Department of Transportation's Brooklyn Bridge restoration project. So, it was just another day on the job when Vice-President Joe Biden showed up at the bridge for a press conference trumpeting the stimulus dollars that are funding the endeavor. Shepherd told his wife, "I'll tell Joe you said hello."

Well, according to the Post, the world's most slapstick-happy VP heard this story and said, "I'll be bleeped. I'll bleepin' say hello to your bleepin' wife." (Only without all the curse words.)

He took Shepherd's cell phone and dialed Tom's wife Betty at work, telling her, "I'm Vice-President Joe Biden. I'm here to make sure your husband isn't messing up the bridge."

All in good fun, of course. Following this conversation and several Heinekens, Biden got an assist from the Jerky Boys, who used Biden as bait for a Sol Rosenberg call where he could not stop saying the F-word when trying to locate his grandmother at a nursing home.

By the time the workers were taking their seventh break of the morning (hey, they're unionized), Biden was still going strong, having roped in notorious funnyman Michael Bloomberg into prank calling Congressman Anthony Weiner to ask him if he liked eating footlongs. At that point, the Secret Service stepped in and shut it down.

Wondering if we're just making all this up? Sorry, that information is classified.
