Spider-ManHere at Asylum, we love a good superhero tale. And while the exploits of Spider-Man, Iron Man and Wonder Man -- he's a superhero, look it up -- are thrilling, they're kid's stuff compared to the superhuman adventures of real folks. Last week, we featured crazy brave folks who defy gravity, extreme temperatures and sanity to pull of daring feats and larger-than-life accomplishments.

And you guys definitely had your own feelings on the stunts ...

Reader C. Conreras wrote that the six videos of superhuman feats were "Lunacy, sheer lunacy, but then again ... Que sera, sera."

Video footage of deep-sea diver Hannah Fraser's homemade "Little Mermaid" act nearly pulled a fast one on Lilana, who wrote, "I thought the mermaid girl was an actual mermaid lol ... didn't know her 'thing' was swimming."

Angie joked, "The only thing I want to tackle is that watermelon in the fridge :). Although I did walk 13 miles once. Kudos to them. I'm mildly inspired to train for a half marathon for charity."

Finally, it was Tom who reminded us of George Willig, the original "spider-man," who, in 1977, "climbed one of the WTC towers and he did it at night so that by morning he would reach the top. He was fined about 50 or 100 dollars and released."

Actually, according to Gothamist and other sources, Willig was ultimately fined only $1.10 -- one cent for every story he climbed -- by then–New York Mayor Abraham Beame. Plus, he accomplished his feat in only three and a half hours.
