Winter's Bone"Winter's Bone" is your stark, indie antidote to a weekend of big-budget remakes. Set in the meth-ravaged wilds of the Ozarks, director Debra Granik's Sundance winner follows a young woman's quest to find her drug-dealer dad before her family loses its home. Dark, violent and blisteringly raw, "Winter's Bone" will be catnip to anyone looking for some grit amongst the summer junk.

Also in theaters:
-- Are critics really complaining that "The A-Team" is too broad and cartoon-like? They do realize it's based on a show where Mr. T regularly drove a van through walls, right?
-- Considering it's set in China, shouldn't "The Karate Kid" remake be called "The Kung Fu Kid"? Though, really, that's the least of this one's problems.
-- "Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work" is probably the most on-the-nose title for a documentary since "Babies." We're seeing this one strictly for footage of her train-wreck talk show from the '90s.
