We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the pancakes your mom and dad made for you as a child looked like boring blobs of chewy batter compared to Jim Belosic's beauties.

Seriously, the guy has perfected the art of pancake-making and, without question, gives Monet and Michelangelo a solid run for their money.

Inspired by the pancakes his own father would make for him as a kid, Belosic headed to his humble kitchen on a lazy Saturday morning. His mission? To create a fun-shaped pancake for his daughter, Allison.

Impressed with his creation, he created a blog and posted a picture, which is precisely where the madness really began.

"It was originally intended for a few friends and family to see," the pancake guru tells us. "I grossly underestimated the number of pancake fans out there. I think we've had more than 600,000 hits to the site in the past 30 days."

It all sounds a bit silly, but once you peruse the album of impressive flapjacks you'll understand what all the hoopla is about. For example, Belosic has concocted a 3-D depiction of the Golden Gate Bridge (with a flowing river and all), a lovely arrangement of "eggs and bacon" and wearable pancake bling.

His favorite to date?

"Probably the hamburger," Belosic says. "It looked a lot better than I expected and was one of the tastiest pancakes I've ever made."

Speaking of taste, that's something the master of pancakes takes very seriously.

"I make the batter myself, but I'm always changing the recipe a little as I go," he explains. "You want the batter to be thinner than normal so that it flows in a squeeze bottle better. Adding fruit puree instead of some water adds color and flavor."

Since Jim's Pancakes' inception, he's been featured in Esquire magazine and various local and regional television programs.

Though he puts other parents to shame, we can only hope Belosic keeps doing what he's doing. After all, pancakes make the world a better place.
