Writer (and Asylum contributor) Chris Illuminati is undergoing two pretty big lifestyle changes at once: He had his first child in April; and in May he left his office job as an editor to become a freelance writer, and stay-at-home dad.Illuminati has combined these two new experiences into a blog called "Message With a Bottle," in which he shares the lessons, struggles and insights of a new father, one Post-It note at a time.
Why Post-Its? Illuminati uses the sticky paper to keep track of his writing assignments. Then, a couple months ago, he jokingly wrote "feed baby" on one of his ready supply.
"I thought, What if I really had to do this for the simplest things? and that's were the idea came from," Illuminati explained.
Look for things at "Message With a Bottle" to kick up a notch in July, when Illuminati's wife returns to work, leaving him as his 3-month-old son's only daytime caregiver.
As for Illuminati's crystal-clear handwriting? Credit the nuns. "12 years of Catholic school," Illuminati told us, when we complimented him on his old-fashioned penmanship.
Read on for more of the wit and wisdom of "Message With a Bottle."

You are a great dad! Keeping a log of this for your child will be memories you two will share for a life time! My daughter just had her 1st child on May 13th. Grandchildren are awesome! This makes number 3 alls grandsons.
Chris, you sound like a very proud papa! Keep up the good work!
Congratulations to you and the new mommy! Being parents is a great thing, then you become grandparents and the feeling is different, yet the same! Enjoy every moment, for it goes by so quickly.
Love to you all!

They didn't have post-it notes when my son was born and now HE has a son. Wow..time flies when you're having fun. I really enjoyed your post-its. Keep on doing that and one day compile them in a book. You're awesome. Happy Fathers Day to you and every other dad reading these comments.
