The Plus-Size Struggle to Put on Socks -- The Fat Man's Perspective

Every single day, millions of Americans struggle with a terrible problem. It has nothing to do with the economy. It has nothing to do with climate change or natural disasters. Every day millions of overweight Americans almost suffer serious injury performing a simple daily task: donning socks.

Putting on your socks when you have acquired a handsome beer belly can be seriously rough. Asylum has offered many different perspectives from many different groups, but to this point we've ignored the fat man's perspective. Fortunately, Andy Green was happy to shine the spotlight on this terrible situation that befalls the rotund among us every single day.

Many Mustached Americans are indeed also overweight Americans, and our thanks to Asylum for providing this fat man's prospective. However, fat men are always more enjoyable to watch if they have large, feminine breasts.

I haven't worn socks in years (save for dress occasions) because I've found that my feet don't stink when I fore-go them.

That said, I'm a fatty and putting on socks...sucks. As do a number of other things.

I know of no easier, less knee-popping, ball-squishing ways of putting socks on, but I figured I'd chime in with a simple "I hear ya".

Keep up the Fat Man's Perspective. I've got loads of material!

My husband's feet frakken REEKED until I found an EASY solution by accident. He used to come home from a day at work, kick off his shoes, and the smell was absolutely horrendous. The smell was so bad I swear it could knock a buzzard off a sh-- wagon!
It turns out the odor was due to the material of socks he was wearing. He used to wear nylon socks. I switched him to cotton socks because I figured maybe they would absorb odor better. BUT, it turns out after switching to cotton socks he had NO more odor. None! So I figure maybe he was allergic to the nylon somehow? Long story short, if you are having foot odor problems, try all cotton socks. The only problem I have had is he doesn't like white socks, and finding all cotton socks in black is tricky. So when I do find them, I always stock up.
For the first 4 years of our marriage it was hell suffering with his foot odor. But the last 34 years has been great :o) and I am looking forward to many more years to come :o).
p.s. the socks have to be all cotton. I once bought him a 98% cotton and 2% nylon blend, and the odor came right back.

Go down to Home Depot and get some wood or metal and rig up a simple frame that can hold a sock open, so you would insert and get the sock ready with your hands close to your chest where its easy to get things done, then depending on your level of heaviness just set or drop the frame onto the ground and use your feet to "kick" the device into position. Thrust your foot into the sock and hook your toes as you pull back to remove the sock (now on your foot) from the frame. Use your grabber to grab the frame and reload the next sock.

Easy.

Actually they make a handy device to slip your socks on for people at hospital who are disabled due to injury. It's pretty much a long stick with a half cup on the end with a outer ring that you slip the sock over. Simply slide your foot into the sock and pull up, and the sock snaps off once it's pulled taught.
