Eighteen years to life in prison for a four-dollar theft might seem like a pretty harsh sentence, but Keith Fagan also came away from the Bronx mugging with a pack of cigarettes, so that must increase the value of his haul to, what, like 50 bucks?Yesterday, Fagan, 48, interrupted the interrogation of one of the two women he robbed at East 180th and Vyse Avenue last year to plead guilty to the crime, admitting that he had used his finger to pretend he had a gun in his pocket, which is apparently something criminals do. Who knows, maybe he's like that old guy from "Shawshank" and wants back in -- his criminal record extends back to his teen years, and he's spent most of his adult life in jail.
As for the harsh sentence, the judge cited Fagan's four previous robbery and sodomy charges, which he'll have plenty of time to practice in jail, so at least there's some good news.
