Crane Can't Hold Its Wood, Drops Tree Onto House

This crane was supposed to remove a tree that posed a risk to a home in Akron, Ohio. Instead, an apparently mighty gust of wind upset the heavy machinery's balance, and the crane ended up causing the very damage it was supposed to prevent. So, that would be irony -- and a pending lawsuit.

LOL wow...I am guessing no one was hurt, so that is a good thing. I would not sue the crane company for this, they DO carry insurance for accidents.

This is not a uncommon practice. Best done during periods of little or no winds. However during strong sustained winds or strong gusts of wind it is wise to dismantel the trees canopy if the foliage is substantial enough collect the wind. Other variables include the size of the tree and the allowable margin of error.

I know people just like this idiot, Emily. Bitch and moan about illegal aliens. And then guess who they hire to do the landscaping chores like building a walkway or planting shrubs. One of my coworkers did exactly that, after ranting about how "illegals" are taking over everything and taking jobs away from Americans. Too stupid to see the hypocrisy. Only the weight of the engine and cabin acted as the counter balance. Not near enough weight to lift that heavy a tree trunk. All things equal, the trunk should have been cut into small pieces. Then it would have been no trouble for that rig to lift.

paul and dewitt self nailed it, you have to take it in sections = tree limbs and LOGS. that pick was almost the whole trunk , waaaay too much weight!
