The last time Alana Beck saw her 3-year-old Pomeranian, Sammy, was June 29, on the corner of 21st Street and 1st Avenue, just outside Grill 21, the restaurant she runs.

"He was tied up and got loose," Beck tells Asylum. "When he ran up the block, someone stopped him and released him to the wrong person. Ever since then, he's been missing."

Beck and her devoted sister have led quite the campaign to track down the 3-pound, sandy-colored pup. Fliers span street corners practically all over town, and digital efforts have been led by the East Village's EV Grieve, as well as a missing dog blog created especially for the squirt.

Sammy knows his name and answers to it. He has a green leash and a blue collar with a bone-shaped dog tag that says "SAMMY," along with the owner's address. He tends to bark at strangers, and is very picky about people picking him up, according to Beck.

"After he was stolen, he was seen around Tompkins a lot," she said. "As for the last two or three days, we haven't heard anything. Someone found a dog on 97th and Madison named Sammy. But it could be another dog."
