Sometimes a protest song comes along that embodies the spirit of an entire movement and shows those in power the true meaning of freedom. Other times, a songwriter takes four minutes of factually incorrect, xenophobic paranoia and sets it to music befitting a "South Park" parody.
In the latest installment of Hate by Numbers, Gladstone counts off on the latter of the two -- Trade Martin's "We Got to Stop the Mosque at Ground Zero."

Here are some talking points. 1) That building was hit by debris from the jets after they hit, so, yeah! It's part of Ground Zero. 2) Despite what the Imam, or anyone associated with the Mosque says, it will be viewed as a Muslim victory Mosque. 3) No one knows from where the money to finance this building comes. 4) Rauf's own statements and writings belay his urgings that the Mosque is to bring unity. 5) Look up "Cordoba" and "Mosque" in Spain. Compare the historical reference. 6) There is no Muslim population in that area. It's the Business District! There are no living residence in that area. 7) No one is arguing the _right_ to build one there. The argument is the _WISDOM_ to build there. 8) They ask for tolerance, yet they don't give any. Here's an idea (thanks to Greg Gutfeld): Why don't we build a Muslim gay bar right next door!
If your argument has merit (aka. no name calling or personal attacks) feel free to bring counter-arguments on my E-Mail.

Hey, do you want the people eventually deciding that YOUR ideas are rude and inconsiderate and therefore stomping on your rights? No? Then let these guys build their stupid mosque wherever they want.

Apparently Hannah Rose, you haven't read my post. Point #7. NO ONE is arguing about "Rights" here. Yes, They have the RIGHT to build a mosque there. Is it WISE? Smeg NO! The same argument applies to that pastor in Florida. Does he have the RIGHT to burn the Koran? Yes, he does. Is it WISE? Smeg no! Points 2 & 5. #5 first into #2: Cordoba, Spain is the farthest north the Muslims invaded Europe. They built a mosque on the location of the Cathedral they razed. When Muslims build a mosque on a Holy or religious site, they claim it as theirs. No "Infidels" allowed, unless they want to convert. Rauf and his cadre are calling their project "The Cordoba Initiative". Do you see the reference? If not, let me spell it out. MUSLIM VICTORY MOSQUE! It doesn't matter if radicals are the ones who did it or not. It WILL be claimed in the name of _all_ of Islam.
Please use some facts to back up an argument. Even real moderate Muslims (Rauf is NO moderate!) feel this mosque should not be built. I suggest you watch the discussion between Raheel Raza (Muslim Canadian Congress Board Member) and Bill O'Reilly on the O'Reilly Factor. Fox News should have the video of the segment. Just run a search for "Raheel Raza".

They probably don't even realize that if they are allowed build it. It will the most watched building in NY city. Every National Security Agency will have eyes on them. I feel the USA is in a catch 22 situation, because if we let them build it. We show the world that freedom of religon means something in the USA, but some will see it as a sign of weakness. The other side is if we force them to move it. We look like intolerant bigots against Islam which only feeds the haters of the USA. Either way somebody ain't goona be happy, but that's life.

Bottom line is...would you want to go by a mosque to visit your loved ones grave site at Ground Zero? It may be 2 blocks away, but people used to come from several blocks away to go to work at the Trade Centers. Are we THAT stupid to not consider these facts?

No, there really is no down side to letting them build this. The people who might see it as a "sign of weakness" are people who hate us anyway. Other people, say, Muslims we want to not join terrorist groups, would respect us for it. Just being the military juggernaut of the planet is not enough to make people really hate us; it's when we USE that power to try and manipulate the world in our favor that people get pissed. Let them do what they want, let us show the world we still adhere to our principles, and move on.

I see it as a sign of weakness and I don't hate Islam people, I have some friends, I hate what the specific people did to bomb and kill at this location....I think if we give in and allow this to be built there, we have not stood up for the people who died there...FOR NO REASON!! I think where the funding is coming from is shady and sketchy and I think those people who did this on 9/11 are just showing they have power by wanting this built there..IT DOESN"T BELONG THERE..

The people that did that are dead. I'm pretty sure they didn't survive the plane crash or ensuing inferno. Stop using the actions of few to determine the attitudes of many.
Who are you to say what belongs where? Do Israeli houses belong on the new settlements? That's surely a far more controversial issue than whether or not a group of people who share the same faith are building a prayer and youth activity centre in a democratic country that preaches freedom of religion, albeit in a place where people that preach completely different values allegedly perpetrated a vicious crime.

Ah but you see Nas, people like Lisa have no problem with Muslims belonging to the community, they just want to dictate exactly HOW they should be able to belong. It's a rich tapestry of hypocrisy and violation. Enjoy!

Brilliant as always Gladstone! I particularly liked "This here's my country and I shouldn't have to look at you". Hilarious!

Who IS this guy? He has some good points but doesn't answer where this funding is coming from to support the mosque. You can't blame the community for being concerned about putting a mosque near Ground Zero (even 2 blocks) when no one has done their homework? We allowed muslems to take one way flying lessons, etc to complete the plan of attack. They got through customs with 'weapons', etc. After all, the terrorists were all muslem in spite of the fact that there were all types killed on 9/11. Why does it HAVE to be built 2 blocks away? Go somewhere else out of respect for those lives lost. I would hate to have to drive by tthe mosque going into the city at Ground Zero where my loved ones died!

As far as "driving by a mosque" goes, this is the exact problem here; people who are associating all things muslim with terrorism. Why WOULD the sight of Islam (especially PEACEFUL Islam)be a bitter reminder of terrorism?
By the way, when they say "two blocks away", keep in mind these are two NEW YORK blocks. I don't have the proper measurements, but I do believe that NYC blacks tend to be a little bigger than in lesser cities and towns.
