Human meat -- particularly that of children -- was a regular part of prehistoric man's diet.An analysis of fossilized bones dating back 800,000 years and found at a site in Spain has placed the butchered remains of children alongside those of bison, deer and other animals man would eat. From the way the human bones were broken, the researchers suspect their nutritious marrow was harvested for food. There is also evidence the brains of the children were consumed by hungry cavemen.
"They (probably) cut the skull for extracting the brain." explained Bermudez de Castro, of the National Research Center on Human Evolution in Spain. "The brain is good for food."
So, if you ever happen to come across a zombie caveman -- which is likely the only kind of caveman you will ever come across -- you really need to run hard and fast.
