Daredevils scaling skyscrapers, and getting arrested at their summits, are like buses. You can wait ages for one, and then two come along at the same time.Only days after we told you about Alain Robert climbing a 57-story building in Australia, we've got another would-be Spider-Man, this time on home soil.
A daredevil/protester/author (yes really!) was arrested after using suction cups to scale a 58-story building in San Francisco, without any safety equipment.
Wearing a striking red jumpsuit, 54-year-old Dan Goodwin ignored orders by security guards and police to stop climbing Millennium Tower. By the time the San Francisco Fire Department arrived, he was too high for them to reach.
So, the building contractor -- who goes by the name of "SpiderDan" -- then took almost three hours to climb the glass-fronted building, as passers-by watched from the pavement.
When he reached the top of the 645-foot residential building, the climber was met by firefighters and police who promptly arrested him for trespassing and creating a public nuisance.
Dan says the climb was to "highlight the ongoing vulnerability of skyscrapers to terrorist attacks," a topic which he just so happens to have written a new book about. What a coincidence.
