This motorized dining table is the creation of an amateur mechanic who is bidding to set a new record for the world's fastest furniture. Yes, that's a real category.

Perry Watkins says his quick dining table is capable of speeds in excess of 100 mph -- with the driver sitting under the roast chicken -- and is based on a Reliant Scimitar sports-car chassis. Watkins took the basic car frame and fitted a Land Rover Discovery engine boosted by nitrous-oxide injection onto it. Naturally, he then added a table, six dining chairs and a fake meal on top of the whole thing.

Just in case it wasn't already a surreal-enough sight, he rigged it so that the exhaust fumes come out of two silver teapots that sit on the table and built the brake lights into rolled-up napkins.

With his head popping out just a tad:

"What would would you like for an afterburner?"
