Aggressive and timid driving behavior is what leads to stop-and-go traffic.According to a new study conducted by researchers from Georgia Tech and the University of Lyon, in France, there would rarely be traffic if all drivers behaved the same way. Aggressive drivers, who don't give the car in front of them enough space, and timid drivers, who need a big gap between themselves and the cars surrounding them, gum up the works for everybody else.
The researchers concluded that, on the whole, timid drivers are more of a burden than aggressive ones. And these traffic jams aren't merely frustrating for motorists -- they also lead to increased fuel consumption, more emissions and more accidents.
It kind of makes you want to take the train. Well, it would if, you know, there weren't any other people on it.

I know that your racist comments were not meant to be serious.
I spend a lot of time on the road driving the I-5 corridors through places like LA. I have noticed that when people will leave a few car lengths to allow for fluctuations in speed that traffic zips right along.
We all know what happens when you creat that gap; for or five knot heads will zip in and then back out again in a few more yards.

Driving in the So Calif area is dangerous. Most of the people on the road are driving without a legal or any sort of license at all. We make the laws, and are expected to abide by them, yet some still feel that they are exempt from them. Even cell phones, which are illegal, its like the people are thumbing their noses at everyone. I'm here and I dont' have to abide by the laws, cause I dont' even have a license or insurance, yet I can drive anyway that I choose

I have named the large gap in front of them,50 MPH in a 65 MPH Multi-Lane road, "Left Lane Lingerers". A menace to the Safety and Normal Blood Pressure of Competent Drivers. If people would just get thier head around the simple concept of the "passing Lane" and just realize that you should not go the same speed or even worse, slower than the Vehicle to your right, the road would be a lot safer. I ride a large Motorcycle and believe me, 25% of drivers should have thier licenses revoked for incompetence.

Whenever I am planing to go somewhere important, I start a trip a hour earlier so I don't have to worry about traffic.

An hour earlier? Really? Do you mean an hour earlier driving from the east coast to California or do you mean an hour earlier to drive 10 minutes away to the supermarket? You wouldn't happen to be obsessive-compulsive, would you? You really need to see a doctor!

The ones who come flying up on your rear end, knowing there is no place to go (all lanes filled) and the person in the new car that is so afraid of getting within 10 feet of anyone; I'd like to get out of my car and knock the crap out of these people!!!! If you are afraid your car will get a scratch or ding, keep it home in your garage, with you in it! And, the idiot who thinks they can 'squeeze' thru, you can go to the house too!

Or how about the morons who camp out in the left lane going 15 mph UNDER the speed limit. You know the ones who are getting passed by everyone on the RIGHT. The ones who wont move, even if you about to drive into their trunk, REFUSE to move OVER !!!! I wish someone would piss in their wheaties, and kick em in the NUTS. SLOWER TRAFFIC TO THE RIGHT, I mean last time I checked, IT WAS THE LAW !!!!! MOVE THE F OVER !!!!

Usually it's an old person with a handicapped sticker in the window puttering down the high speed lane. Move over? How about taking the back roads, Grandpa. The interstates are for those under age 100.

here in NC, the drivers manual PLAINLY says in TWO separate locations that the left lane is for left turns and passing lane. Folks, if you're not doing either of these......MOVE TO THE RIGHT LANE.

How about leaving your car at home and taking public transportation? If there is none, how about asking your local politician to propose some? I lived for 7 years in southern California and wasted hour after hour, week after week, sitting still on traffic-clogged roads. Now in the New York area, I take the train and haven't driven to work in 14 years. In the old days, every city enabled people to get around like this. What went wrong?

Cool off budy! This isn't what makes you mad. What bugs you are the people doing 15-20 MPH over the limit in the left lane and you can't get around them. Fess up pal.... we've seen you out there!

About 90% of these posts are from people who are so full of themselves they can't deal with civility.
I'm going to poke along at 80 MPH in the left lane weather you like it or not! Deal with it!

If you want an accident, try to force a timid drivers to drive faster than they are comfortable. Since when is defensive driving bad? A fellow student once won a prize for the slogan, "Drive defensive. Life's expensive.

Let them drive in the SLOW lane!!!! If you are impeding the flow of traffic, move to the right.
